Sidney, November 30 (MTI) - The extradition of a WWII war-crime suspect to Hungary has again stalled because his lawyers in Australia have launched another appeal, the online edition of The Australian Jewish News reported on Monday.
The lawyers of Charles Zentai have been granted a judicial review of a ministerial decision made earlier this month that gave the green light for his extradition, The AJN said.
The 88-year-old, a Perth resident, latex leggings , stands accused by Hungary of beating and murdering a Jewish teenager for failing to wear a yellow star in 1944.
The Australian Federal Court decided on November 12 to extradite him to Hungary.
The spokesman for Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor told The AJN that the department would delay giving effect to its extradition ruling until after the Federal Court reviews the decision, a process that must begin by December 4.
Zentai, who has been in a Perth prison since October 22, maintains he is not guilty.
